Benefits of Natural Essential Oils to Treat Burns

Essential oils are popular not only for giving relief from pain, bug bites, and hair-fall but also for treating minor or deep burns. Burns can be occurred due to multiple factors including exposure to the sun, heat from any hot liquids, solids, or fire. Chamomile (Chamomilla or Matricaria) Oil: Since ancient times, Chamomile, has been used for healing skin wounds. It possesses skin rejuvenating, moisturizing, emollient and moisturizing properties. A study has revealed that chamomile oil is excellent in healing burns at a rapid rate.

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Globulus) Oil: Eucalyptus is one of the most popular topical essential oils, used to heal wound as well as burn. Its anti-inflammatory, astringent, and antimicrobial attributes help not just in getting rid of burns only but other skin problems like cuts, insect bites and infections.

Juniper (Juniperus Species) Oil: The essential oils of Junipers such as cedar and cypress, of the Cupressaceae family consists of some ingredients that fight against infection and soothes inflammation. This oil doesn't require dilution and hence can be applied directly to the burnt area 2-3 times a day to get relief.

Oregano (Origanum Species) Oil: Its use is not limited to the kitchen but it is widely used as an essential oil because of its antimicrobial properties. Recently, a study has revealed that oregano oil benefits in getting faster wound healing, including burns.

Tea tree (Melaleuca Species) Oil: This Australian species tree is popular because of its antimicrobial and infection-fighting properties, the oil of it is works as a great burn remedy.

Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) Oil: Thymols, a compound present in the thyme essential oils carries great pain-relieving qualities. A recent case study has revealed that thymol from thyme carries anti-inflammatory properties and this attribute makes the essential oil a great substance for healing burn.

Note: It is advised not to apply ice directly on the skin in case of a burn as it can cause irritation, it's better to sprinkle cold water on the affected area for about 10 minutes.
